Stable Majorana zero modes exist in d-wave superconductors with skyrmions.
The Critique
The result that d-wave pairing can 'destroy topology unlike in s-wave superconductors' is surprising but they don't explore whether this makes d-wave systems worse or actually better for realizing MZMs. The parameter window for MZMs might be narrower but could also be more controllable.
Why It Matters
If d-wave systems offer no advantages and significant disadvantages for MZM engineering, this directs experimental effort toward s-wave systems. But if the different physics enables new detection or braiding schemes, this could open new avenues.
What They Missed
They don't address experimental feasibility: d-wave superconductors like cuprates have short coherence lengths that make skyrmion engineering challenging.
The Big Question
Do d-wave superconductors offer any advantages for Majorana zero mode engineering, or should experiments focus on s-wave systems?
